NOTES on magazine covers:

Cover type:
1.Early magazine covers:
  • Non photos
  • Drawing 
  • Big areas of color
  • Typically not date line or barcode
  • Not much action
  • Topic were often church related (good vs evil)
2.The poster cover:
  • Main focus on picture
  • Words talk about picture cover
  • Not many words at all
  • Picture better be very good or it will not be eye catching
3.Pictures married to type:
  • Less words than forest of words
  • Words incorporated with photo
  • Picture in background
  • Most words are together
  • A little boring
  • Not many entry points(places where viewer get interested)

4.In the forest of words:
  • Many words 
  • Different fonts
  • Sizes and colors.
  • Words distract 
  • Not able to see full photograph


Stuff that should be on magazine cover:
  • Title
  • Picture
  • Barcode
  • Price
  • Date line
